Hyderabad: The IT industry body in its recent report mentioned that the top 5 IT companies in India are planning to add 96,000 employees and the industry continues to be a net hirer of skilled talent, adding 1,38,000 people in FY21.

However, even as automation is set to make some job roles redundant, there are still some skills and jobs that are going to be high in demand in the IT industry.

A report by Xpheno points out that full-stack engineers, data engineers/analytics, backend engineers, machine learning professionals and DevOps are some of the top skills in demand. These skillsets have seen an increase during the pandemic period even as many sectors that depend on the IT sector have made the shift towards digitisation with everything going online. The report also pointed that these roles are being offered with a salary hike of 50-60 per cent.

Similarly, many tech companies are looking at upskilled workforce and a report by UpGrad points out that the highest paying IT jobs in India are in the space of data scientist, cloud architect, blockchain engineer, IoT solutions architect, Artificial Intelligence engineer, product manager and cybersecurity specialist.

So, if you are a young graduate or a mid-level techie, the future of work will be in these sectors and it is essential that people scouting for jobs in the IT field are well-versed with the above-mentioned skillsets.
