Mother drowns nine-month-old daughter in Bairamalguda lake

A 34-year-old woman, allegedly intoxicated, drowned her nine-month-old daughter in Bairamalguda Lake, Hyderabad, on Sunday evening. Police retrieved the body, sent it for postmortem, and took the woman into custody.

Hyderabad: In a shocking incident, a woman allegedly drowned her nine-month-old daughter in Bairamalguda Lake on Sunday evening while reportedly under the influence of alcohol.

According to the police, the incident occurred at around 6.30 pm when Lokasani Rajeshwari, (34) wife of Ravinder Reddy, a resident of Injapur in Ranga Reddy district and a native of Bidar district in Karnataka, allegedly drowned her infant daughter, Lokasani Anuradha, in the lake.

The baby died due to drowning. The police, on receiving information, reached the spot and retrieved the body. The police shifted the body to the Osmania General Hospital mortuary for post-mortem examination.

The woman was found to be in an intoxicated condition and has been taken into custody. A case has been registered, and further investigation is underway.
