Kothagudem: There have been movements of dalams of Maoists and its affiliated organisations in the district, stated Superintendent of Police Sunil Dutt. In a statement here on Saturday, he said the police received inputs on the naxal dalams movements on Telangana and Chhattisgarh borders and also on Kothagudem-Mulugu district borders.

In view of the increasing naxal presence on the district borders, combing operations have been intensified. Huge police forces have been engaged in search operations in the forests to check the Maoist violence, he noted.

Kothagudem and Mulugu police have been conducting vehicle inspections in addition to clearing road axis as part of Road Opening Party (ROP) and carrying out ferry point ambushes, Dutt added.

Anti-Maoist pamphlets appear at many places

Meanwhile, anti-Maoist pamphlets have appear at Lakshmi Colony, Double Bedroom Houses Colony in Cherla, at Mondikunta in Aswapuram and at Sarapaka and Manugur cross roads in Burgamapahad mandals in Bhadradri Kothagudem district on Saturday.

The unnamed pamphlets have condemned naxal violence and killing of innocent villagers by Maoists. It was said that nearly 1000 Adivasis were killed by Maoists during the past few years and it affected and orphaned children in equal numbers of families. During the past few weeks about 25-30 Adivasis have been killed in Bijapur and Sukma districts in Chhattishgarh state. The killings were carried out by the middle cadre Maoists to reach higher positions.

According to the pamphlets, it has become a normal thing for the Maoists to kill Adivasis. They were trying to control the villagers by means of violence. Senior cadres like Chandranna, Azad and Damodar were also killing innocent villagers. In addition to that the hard earned money of Adivasis who toil in agriculture fields and forests collecting forest products was being looted by naxals besides taking away essential commodities forcefully.

Also, pamphlets are urging the Adivasis to conduct people’s courts on the lines of naxals’ people’s courts to question why the villagers were being killed. The erring Maoists must be punished by hanging them publicly. In the pamphlets a reference was also made to the killing of West Bastar Division of CPI (Maoist) Gangalur Area Committee in-charge and Divisional Committee Member Modium Vijja alias Bhadru by the naxals under his command on Thursday.

Lower cadres in Maoists party were drawn from adivasi families and they were engaged to kill their own kin. Adivasis who were associated with the Maoists and supporting them were urged to understand that, read the pamphlets.

Another villager killed in Chhattisgarh
