Adilabad: The continued movement of tigers has left villagers across the erstwhile Adilabad district anxious over the past few days.
Locals reported spotting pugmarks in the riverbed near Odduguda village in Dahegaon mandal and expressed fear about venturing to their fields. They appealed to Forest officials to monitor the tiger’s movement and guide it back into deeper forest areas to avoid any threat to human life.
Forest officials inspected the location and confirmed the pugmarks belonged to a tiger. They cautioned residents and said animal trackers had been deployed to track the tiger. Measures were already in place to facilitate its movement and prevent any conflict, officials added.
Residents of Pippalkoti and Hatthighat villages in Bheempur mandal also claimed to have sighted a tiger on the outskirts. Living in constant fear, they recalled a cow being killed by a tiger a month ago near their villages.
In another instance, a tiger reportedly entered the forests of Bheemaram mandal after crossing Nennal mandal in Mancherial district. Forest officials advised shepherds not to go deep into the forests owing to the animal’s presence. They suspect a tiger from Tadoba Andhari Tiger Reserve in Maharashtra may have migrated into the area searching for new territory.
