Amaravati: Officials during state-wide raids on cinema halls on Wednesday, seized several theaters for violating rules and regulations. As many as 12 theaters were seized in Krishna district on the day during raids in Nuziveedu, Avanigadda and Gudivada.
The officials probed the details of rates of online and offline tickets as well as snacks in food stalls and found that the rates were much higher than the ones prescribed by the government. Krishna district Joint Collector Madhavilatha said theaters which did not renew licenses were seized. The inspections would be held on a regular basis and it was mandatory to take prior permission for screening benefit shows, she stated.
Food safety and legal metrology officials would also conduct the inspections and action would be taken if ticket rates were hiked for movies of top heroes and big budget films, she announced. “It has come to our notice that exorbitant rates are collected at food stalls and parking lots in cinema halls,” she said.
