Kothagudem: Rajya Sabha member Vaddiraju Ravichandra asserted that the development of sports grounds and infrastructure took place only when the BRS was in power, while under Congress rule, development has remained stagnant.

Ravichandra, along with BRS leaders Dindigala Rajender, Kapu Seetha Lakshmi and Munnuru Kapu Association leader Akula Gandhi, inaugurated the Gayatri Cricket Champions Trophy-2026 at Pragathi Maidan here on Saturday.

The tournament organisers, Bathula Srinivas and Kanni Rajesh, introduced the members of the participating cricket teams to MP Ravichandra. Speaking on the occasion, the MP lauded the Indian cricket team for consistently demonstrating exceptional prowess on the international stage and encouraged young cricketers to draw inspiration from Indian players.

Participating in sports fosters physical fitness, provides mental rejuvenation and leads to improved overall health. Youth should stay away from harmful vices and strive to excel in sports along with academics, as sports offer abundant opportunities to achieve great heights, Ravichandra said.

The MP expressed deep concern that the Congress government in the State has deceived all sections of society and was neglecting the welfare of the youth. He called upon the youth to actively resist the anti-people policies being pursued by the government.

BRS leaders Anugula Rakesh Reddy, Ranganath and Badavath Shanti Naik, corporators Malhotra Sagar, Kaleru Sindhu Tapasvi and hundreds of youth participated in the event.
