Hyderabad: As part of the unique Green India Challenge, Rajya Sabha MP Joginapally Santosh Kumar, who has been promoting the initiative for the last few years, along with Jubilee Hills MLA Maganti Gopinath planted saplings in Rahmatnagar division of Jubilee Hills constituency on Sunday.
The Haritha Haram programme of Chief Minister, K Chandrashekhar Rao inspired the novel initiative of Green India Challenge. There is a definite need to promote and make people aware about the significance of planting trees and its overall impact on the environment, the Rajya Sabha MP said.
“In a city that is as big as Hyderabad, the huge number of vehicles and industries affect the environment and cause pollution. The same happened in Delhi and it is now upon every person in Hyderabad to take it upon themselves to ensure a lot of trees and saplings are planted, as this will bring down the pollution. I thank Gopinath for taking this initiative up on such a big scale,” Santosh Kumar.
GHMC former deputy mayor Baba Fasiuddin, Rahamatnagar corporator, C N Reddy, Yousufguda corporator Rajkumar Patel, Vengalraonagar corporator Dedivya, Somajiguda corporator Sangita Yadav, GIC co-founder Raghava and others were present.
