Hyderabad: Residents of Madhu Park Ridge (MPR) Apartments have been summoned for a hearing on land acquisition linked to the Musi River Front Development Project.

The Land Acquisition Officer of Rajendranagar mandal issued notices in July to over 150 owners of Madhu Park Ridge Apartments (B-Block) at Bandlaguda, asking the owners to attend an enquiry on July 7 to depose their contentions and claims.

Accordingly, residents attended the hearing before the Revenue Divisional Officer, Rajendranagar division, and opposing the Musi Project, raised their objections.

S Subbalakshmi, one of the flat owners of MPR, who attended the enquiry, told Telangana Today, “A majority of the flat owners were opposed to the land acquisition process during the enquiry. We explained in detail regarding their problems if the government acquires the land from the premises of MPR Apartments. Some flat owners emotionally explained their bonding with the MPR Apartments and urged not to acquire the land for the project.”

A flat owner is reported to have attended the enquiry after receiving notices. Her husband had died due to cardiac arrest last month after receiving the notices, and she showed his photos at the enquiry, stating he died due to the pressure mounted by the officials.

Meanwhile, an advocate, N Kumaraswamy, served a legal notice to the Land Acquisition Officer, stating that a writ petition was pending with the High Court challenging the land acquisition proceedings.
