Hyderabad: The internet’s long memory has once again put a celebrity under the spotlight, and this time it’s Mrunal Thakur. A clip from over a decade ago, showing a teenage Mrunal referring to actress Bipasha Basu as “manly with muscles” during an interview, recently made its way back into circulation sparking fresh outrage.
Bipasha responded through Instagram with a pointed message about women supporting women, along with a subtle nudge to break “age-old thought processes.” Her remarks quickly gained traction online, drawing attention from both fans and media circles.

Not one to stay silent, Mrunal addressed the controversy head-on through her own social media post. She acknowledged that the remark was made when she was 19, admitting she didn’t grasp the weight her words could carry back then. She clarified that it was meant as light-hearted banter but recognised it came across differently, adding that she has since learned to value beauty in every form.
While social media continues to debate her choice of words, the actress’s willingness to own up to her past remarks has drawn both criticism and praise.
On the work front, Mrunal’s recent release Son of Sardaar 2 didn’t make a mark at the box office, but she’s far from slowing down. She has a massive lineup from Decoit to Tum Ho Tho and AA22
