Mulugu: People of Ailapur, a tribal village in Kannaigudem mandal of the district, have boycotted the ongoing comprehensive caste census programme in protest against government’s failure to provide basic amenities to them.
The villagers boycotted the comprehensive caste census demanding that their village be provided with road, electricity, drinking water, irrigation water and medical facilities. The government had sanctioned funds in 2018 for laying a10 kilometers of road between Ailapur village and Eturunagaram, but the work had been stopped stating that there was no permission from the forest department, they said, adding that farmers dug boreholes in the fields for about seven years, but the electricity line had not been laid yet.
The villagers made it clear that until they are provided all the basic amenities they would not take part in the comprehensive caste census.
