Adilabad: In the wake of growing incidents of food poisoning, Municipal chairperson Jogu Premender conducted surprise inspections in several government-run schools here on Monday. Premender visited schools located in Kolipura, New Housing Board Colony, Vidyanagar and other parts of the district centre. He verified the quality of food being served to students and inmates of hostels by having a meal. He checked vegetables and essential commodities used in cooking the dishes.
He expressed anger over staffers of a Kasturba Gandhi Balika Vidyalaya in Vidyanagar after finding outdated groundnut and other key ingredients. The chairman instructed the staffers of the hostels to provide quality yet hygienic food to students. He asked them not to serve stale food and to take steps to prevent recurrence of food contamination in future. He assured that drinking water would be supplied to the hostels through a special pipeline.
District Educational Officer Pranitha, District Youth and Sports Officer Venkateshwarlu and many other officials were present.
