Mancherial: Candidates contesting the municipal polls here are roping in experts and agencies from Hyderabad to handle publicity and poll management.

Gone are the days when candidates relied only on conventional campaign methods. Candidates belonging to the Congress, BRS and BJP, along with Independents, are exploring various strategies to ensure victory and draw the attention of voters. They are adopting new methods to succeed in the polls and secure the mandate, without minding the expenditure involved.

Candidates are hiring experts and agencies by paying hefty remuneration.

“We deployed a team of four experts from a Hyderabad-based agency for effective poll management. It is important not only to register victory in the polls but also to secure a substantial majority over the opponent,” a candidate said, requesting anonymity.

The experts are devising strategies for candidates using elector data. They are ensuring that candidates reach out to every voter and explain their assurances. They are also recommending measures to win the confidence of electors and avoid setbacks. The teams are being provided accommodation and food in luxury hotels.

Similarly, candidates are depending on social media influencers to publicise their candidature instead of traditional cut-outs of prominent political leaders. Dance shows and rallies are also being organised as part of the campaign. Candidates are making all-out efforts to emerge victorious and attract the attention of local elected representatives by leaving a distinct mark.

Officials said that 692 candidates from various registered parties are in the fray across one municipal corporation and four municipalities in the district. While 240 candidates are contesting from 60 divisions of the newly created Mancherial Municipal Corporation, which is going to polls for the first time, 172 nominees are in the fray from Bellampalli, 107 from Chennur, 113 from Kyathanpalli and 60 from Luxettipet municipalities.
