Sangareddy: Inspired by the Kalyana Lakshmi and KCR Kit schemes, the brainchild of former Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao, young BRS contestant Kothapally Srikanth, trying his luck as councillor from Ward No.16 of Sangareddy municipality, has vowed to present Rs 25,000 for every woman’s marriage in his ward and Rs 16,000 to parents of a girl child.
Apart from this, Srikanth promised to provide Rs 10,000 towards funeral expenses in the event of any death in his ward. Srikanth, who had also won from Ward No.16 in 2019, said he had taken up a 100-day challenge to install about 300 to 400 CC cameras across the ward to check crime and theft. He vowed to complete the installation by spending Rs 20 lakh within 100 days after his victory in the 2026 elections.
With the Congress government keeping the issuance of new pensions pending, Srikanth offered to pay Rs 1,000 per month as pension to eligible persons who had applied but had not received it from the government.
Speaking to Telangana Today, Srikanth said he had presented Rs 10,000 for women’s marriages and Rs 10,000 towards funeral expenses during his previous tenure. However, he decided to increase the amounts and introduce several new schemes in view of rising expenses.
Srikanth, who played a key role in the Telangana movement as a TRSV leader, said he would guide youngsters from his ward to secure employment in local industries and organise a mega health camp every six months. As many residents were struggling to obtain permissions for new house constructions, he offered to facilitate approvals without hurdles.
The manifesto was released by Srikanth at the hands of Sangareddy MLA Chintha Prabhakar and immediately went viral on social media.
During his previous tenure, Srikanth distributed 25-kg rice bags to 300 poor families during the Covid-19 period and drilled borewells at five locations to meet local drinking water needs, spending from his own pocket. He also installed three high mast lights at Rajampet, Hasthabal Junction and the Muslim graveyard, spending Rs 2.5 lakh on each. He said he had taken up multiple development works with nearly Rs 3 crore granted by the government during his earlier term.
