Mulugu: An accused in a murder case allegedly escaped from Eturunagaram police station in the early hours of Tuesday.
According to sources, police had taken one Guniganti Praveen Kumar, a driver, into custody in connection with the murder of his wife Gosukula Shirisha, but he managed to give a slip to the police. It is alleged that Praveen Kumar, who married Shirisha, a Dalit woman, killed her by setting her ablaze four days ago at Eturunagaram following a fight between the couple.
Eturunagaram Circle Inspector Kiran Kumar, however, denied the allegation of escape of the accused from the pollce station. Meanwhile, the news of the escape of the accused from the alleged ‘police custody’ went viral on WhatsApp.
“I have no idea about the escape of the accused,” the CI added.
