Adilabad: Mystery surrounds the death of Sahil Choudari, a 19-year-old MBBS student from Rajasthan, who died by suicide at his hostel on the premises of Rajiv Gandhi Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS)-Adilabad on the night of July 29.

Sahil, a second-year student, was found hanging from a ceiling fan in his hostel room. Some of his classmates broke open the door after he failed to respond to phone calls and rushed him to RIMS-Adilabad. However, doctors declared him brought dead.

Following the incident, the RIMS administration constituted an internal committee, which is yet to determine the reason behind the student’s drastic step.

“We are unable to find out the reason for his extreme act. We need to gather versions of his classmates, who are currently appearing for examinations. He was a brilliant student and an affable human being. He had bought a motorbike just a month ago,” an official from the institute said.

Meanwhile, Sahil’s parents, though seemingly clueless about the suicide, have not raised any suspicions. However, they lodged a complaint with the police, requesting a thorough investigation into their son’s death.

A case has been registered and investigation is underway.
