NABH-accredited hospitals show gains in digital maturity, efficiency: ISB white paper

An ISB white paper has found substantial improvements in digital maturity, operational efficiency and clinical decision-making among NABH-accredited hospitals. The study covered 20 hospitals and reported the average digital maturity score rising from 3.42 to 4.35 on a five-point scale.

Hyderabad: A white paper by Max Institute of Healthcare Management (MIHM), Indian School of Business (IBS) has indicated that hospitals with National Accreditation for Hospitals and Healthcare Providers (NABH) in India, have achieved substantial improvements in operational efficiency, clinical decision-making, and overall digital maturity.

The study, published as a white paper, covering 20 hospitals across sizes, accreditation levels, and metro/non-metro locations, reported marked gains in digital maturity, with the average score rising from 3.42 to 4.35 on a five-point scale.


Strong gains were also reported in data privacy and documentation quality (4.56 each), operational efficiency (4.38), and interoperability (4.29), with the overall value of DHS rated at 4.62 on 5. One hospital recorded reduced revenue leakage from 33 percent to 7 percent, a press release said.

The white paper was unveiled at ISB by Ajay Seth, Chairperson, IRDAI, in the presence of Chakravarthy Kannan, Secretary General of the Quality Council of India and CEO (I/C) of NABH, Rizwan Koita, senior office bearers of NABH, QCI and ISB.
