Hyderabad: Describing the arrest of BJP State president Bandi Sanjay Kumar on Sunday as murder of democracy, BJP chief JP Nadda said the party would take legal recourse against the arrest.

In a statement issued on Monday, the BJP national chief said the manner in which Bandi Sanjay was arrested was highly deplorable and condemnable. “The police entered the BJP office and resorted to lathi charge, thrashed and manhandled senior party leaders and workers who were staging a protest peacefully,” he said.

Meanwhile, union Tourism Minister G Kishan Reddy said citing Covid protocol violation the Telangana government had arrested the BJP state president.

“If that is the case, then many TRS Ministers and MLAs should also be booked and arrested as they did not wear masks or follow Covid protocols at the flyover launch programme in Hyderabad on Saturday,” said Kishan Reddy, addressing mediapersons at New Delhi.

“The Telangana government cannot have one law for opposition parties and another for TRS party,” he said, adding BJP party does not have to learn Covid protocol from TRS government.
