Nalgonda: A sudden surge of Covid-19 cases has been reported in several mandals of Nagarjuna Sagar Assembly constituency.
According to sources in the health department, the number of positive cases has been high in Nidmanoor, Gurrampode, Tripuraram and Tirumalgiri(Sagar) in Nagarjuna Sagar Assembly constituency compared to other parts in the district.
Several political leaders who participated in the election campaign also tested positive for the virus. Some journalists and photographers who covered the elections also tested positive for corona.
Scores of people were seen waiting at the Primary Health Centres (PHCs) in these mandals for rapid antigen tests. In Gurrampode mandal, 23 covid positive cases were reported on Tuesday from the 99 persons who took the rapid antigen test. In Tirumalgiri mandal, out of 30 tested persons, nine tested positive.
Similarly, 150 persons underwent rapid antigen tests at the PHC in Peddavoora and 44 tested positive. Out of 171 percent who underwent rapid antigen test at Nidmanoor PHC, 15 persons tested positive. About 19 persons tested positive for COVID-19 in Tripuraram mandal as rapid antigen tests conducted to 71 persons by medical staff. About five persons tested positive in Mandgulapally mandal as 17 persons took rapid antigen test.
