Nalgonda: Nakrekal MLA Chirumarthi Lingaiah on Saturday asked the farmers to participate in the State-wide protests planned by the TRS against anti-farmers policies of the Centre on December 20.
Releasing water to the left and right canals of Musi project located near Bopparam of Kethepally mandal, MLA pointed out that the Centre made it clear that it would not procure parboiled rice from the State for Yasangi crop season.
It has forced the State government to suggest to the farmers to switch over to the cultivation of alternative crops from paddy to avoid any inconvenience to them, he added.
The Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao has called for protests across the State to mount pressure on the Centre to reconsider its decision on anti-farmers policies, MLA said.
MLA reminded that the initiatives of the Chief Minister including free power to agriculture pump sets, Rythu Bandhu, improved irrigation facility and Rythu Bandhu have succeeded in bringing earlier glory to the farmers in the State.
The decisions of the Centre were like impacting the interests of the farmers of the State. Hence, it has decided to mount pressure on the Centre through agitation, he added.
Chirumarthi Lingaiah made it clear that Rythu Bandhu scheme would continue in the State until TRS was in power and not to believe the false propaganda of the opposition parties on Rythu Bandhu scheme.
MLA strongly criticised the opposition parties for enacting dramas on the issues of the farmers to get their votes in the elections. He also asked the farmers to unite and fight against the policies of the Centre, which were detrimental to their interests.
MLA said that the State government was also planning to take up a programme for the setting of solar fencing to protect the alternative crops from the monkeys.
