Nalgonda: A 10-year-old boy drowned in AMRP canal while his brother was washed away in the canal on Sunday.
The victims were identified as K Chandu(10) and Nandu (8), sons of Rambabu, a resident of Suryanagar Colony on the outskirts of Nalgonda town.
Some persons, who went to the canal for a dip after attending a funeral, found Chandu’s body in the canal at Arjalabavi and alerted the police.
Nalgonda rural police rushed to the spot and fished out the body of Chandu from the canal and shared his photograph in Whatsapp groups to establish his identity.
The parents approached the police saying their younger son Nandu was missing. The parents had left home for construction work leaving behind their children in the house.
Nalgonda Rural Sub-Inspector Rajasekhar Reddy said the two brothers may have gone to the canal for a swim and got washed away in the current. Police are searching for Nandu’s body. They filed a case and took up investigations.
