Nalgonda district tops in paddy procurement
Collectorinformed that 7,88,850 tonnes of paddy worth Rs 1,470 crore was purchased from 1,10,468 farmers through IKP and PACS paddy procurement centres
Nalgonda: Nalgonda district topped the State in paddy procurement this Yasangi by purchasing 7,88,850 tonnes through procurement centres.
Speaking at a meeting, District Collector Prashant Jevan Patil said, “Paddy production was more than expected. Hence, we worked with a plan to ensure that the purchasing exercise will continue till the last grain of the crop is procured.”
“Overcoming the hurdles of Covid lockdown, we have succeeded in achieving the target in paddy procurement,” he maintained.
He informed that 7,88,850 tonnes of paddy worth Rs 1,470 crore was purchased from 1,10,468 farmers through IKP and PACS paddy procurement centres.
“Already, Rs 1,100 crore was deposited in the bank accounts of 80,950 farmers and remaining would also be paid soon. About 31,154 lorries and tractors have been utilised to shift the paddy to the mills in the district,” he added. Additional district Collector V Chandrasekhar and others were also present.
