Nagonda: In a jolt to Congress in Nagarjuna Sagar Assembly constituency, 200 Congress members from Gurrampode mandal in the constituency joined the TRS on Monday in the presence of Nalgonda MLA and TRS mandal in-charge for by-elections Kancherla Bhupal Reddy.

Along with 200 Congress members, senior Congress leader and former sarpanch of Junuthala of Gurrampode mandal Lingampally Venkataiah resigned from the grand old party and joined the TRS at a programme in Nalgonda.

Speaking on the occasion, Bhupal Reddy said that leaders of opposition parties have been joining TRS since they were attracted by the welfare schemes and developmental programmes implemented by Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao. He pointed out that towns and villages had undergone significant development due to the initiatives of the State government in the last six and half years. He exuded confidence that the TRS will win the by-election to Nagarjuna Sagar Assembly constituency by a handsome margin. With Venkataiah joining the party, TRS’ position has been further strengthened in the constituency, he added.

Nalgonda Municipality Chairman Mandadi saidi Reddy, Vice Chairman Abbagoni Ramesh  and others also attended the programme.
