Nalgonda: The District First Additional Sessions Court judge Nagaraju on Thursday sentenced to life imprisonment a tutor and a manager of a hostel run by an NGO Village Reconstruction Organization at Enamedhi thanda of Peddavoora mandal in the district for rape of 12 minor girls staying in the hostel.
The court awarded life term to main accused and tutor Ramavath Harish Naik and hostel manager Srinivas and Rs 10,000 fine. Another manager of the hostel, Saritha, was sentenced to six month in jail. She was handed down the sentence for not informing the police even though she knew about the rape of 12 minors girls by the hostel tutor.
The hostel managers recruited a male tutor for girls in violation of the rules.
The rape of 12 minor girls, who were staying in the hostel of an NGO at Enamedhi, by Harish came to light in 2014, and created a sensation in united Andhra Pradesh. Harish is a native of Enamedhi thanda.
On the instructions of then Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy, the police filed cases against the tutor and the two managers of the hostel. The cruel act of Harish came to light when a girl student complained to the headmaster of the school.
