Nalgonda: Several villages in erstwhile Nalgonda district have clamped a mini-lockdown on their own by imposing restrictions on business hours in view of the spurt in Covid cases.
As part of self-imposed restrictions with the cooperation of the merchants, all the business establishments, except medical shops, fruit shops and groceries, should remain closed in Yadagirigutta in Yadadri-Bhongir district after 2 pm and the restriction would continue until further decision is taken by the municipal council.
In Yadadri-Bhongir, a self-adopted restriction for opening of shops up to 2 pm was being implemented in Motakondur until May 21. Similar restrictions were implemented in Valgonda and shops were closed down from 2 pm. The gram panchayat has decided to continue the restriction in Valgonda till May 31.
Miryalaguda Two-Wheelers Associations has decided to shut down their shops from May 10 to 20 in the town in Nalgonda district. Thakkellapadu gram panchayat of Miryalaguda mandal also resolved to adopt restrictions on business hours. In Gurrampode, the shops would be allowed to operate until 2 pm only. Local elected representatives and youths have taken the responsibility of implementing self-restrictions to curtail the spread of the virus.
Suryapet Brahman Association decided not to perform rituals relating to various functions, including marriages, until May 30.
