Khammam: Former BRS Lok Sabha floor leader and ex-MP Nama Nageswara Rao strongly condemned the arrest of Huzurabad BRS MLA Padi Kaushik Reddy, terming it illegal and politically motivated.

In a statement issued on Saturday, Nama said it was unjustified to arrest an elected representative who had been working tirelessly for public welfare, without issuing any prior notice.

He alleged that false cases were being filed against leaders who were raising their voices for the people, and termed it an attempt to suppress democratic dissent.

“The people will give a befitting response to such actions at the right time,” he warned.

Nama demanded the immediate release of Kaushik Reddy and the withdrawal of all fabricated cases against him. He asserted that the BRS would continue to fight to safeguard democratic values and stand by those working in the interest of the people.
