Namasthe Telangana photojournalist wins national photography award

Namasthe Telangana Deputy Chief Photojournalist Veeragoni Rajinikanth Goud won the third prize at the 'Focus on News 2.0' national photography contest organised by the Karnataka Media Academy, with his work finishing among the top three entries selected from across India

Hyderabad: Deputy Chief Photojournalist of Namasthe Telangana, Veeragoni Rajinikanth Goud, has won the third prize at the ‘Focus on News 2.0’ national photography contest organised by the Karnataka Media Academy.

The two-day National News Photography Exhibition and Contest and Training Workshop for Photojournalists, organised in collaboration with the Department of Information and Public Relations, is being held between August 3 and 4 at the Karnataka Chitrakala Parishath in Bengaluru.

Out of 250 entries submitted from across the country, a total of 50 made it to the final exhibition, with just two selected from Telangana.

From the final 50 photographs, only three podium finishes were awarded. While the first and second prizes went to entries from Kerala and Mumbai respectively, Rajinikanth secured the third prize for his exceptional visual work.

While the first day of the event focused on the technical aspects of photography, the valedictory ceremony and prize distribution function is scheduled to be held on Tuesday, August 4.

Ramalinga Reddy, Karnataka Minister for Major and Medium Irrigation, will present the awards to the winners, while Karnataka Media Academy Chairperson Ayesha Khanum will preside over the event.
