Narayanpet: Farmers losing their lands under the Narayanpet- Kodangal Lift Irrigation scheme are continuing to press their demand for market value compensation.
Accordingly, the farmers met Animal Husbandry Minister Vakiti Srihari here on Friday. They submitted a representation to the Minister insisting that they would not part with their lands unless the government assured to pay market value compensation for their lands.
They also demanded that till the government made an official announcement in this regard, officials should stop land acquisition for the project.
For the last many days the farmers are up in arms against the project works. They are opposing land acquisition for the project without proper compensation and have also prevented officials from conducting surveys of lands.
This apart, they have been staging protests and demanding the government to refrain from forceful land acquisition. The farmers have also warned that protests would be intensified, if the government did not consider their demands.
