You don’t have to go all the way to Madame Tussauds to admire wax statues. Ongole-based Naresh Ravulapalli will bring them to your living room, but in the form of wax digital art. Celebrities including Kamna Jethmalani, Nandita Swetha, Anshu Ambani, Roja movie fame Madhubala, Venky Kudumula, Vennela Kishore and Gopichand Malineni are a fan of his works.
Recently, Naresh also did a video song featuring wax digital arts in collaboration with playback singer Hymath. And his new posts on social media are going viral. The 23-year-old says he was into art since his school days and his first art competition was in class VI. YouTube, he claims, helped him learn and improvise his skills. It was in 2018 that his passion turned into a profession as a wax digital artist.
“We are doing two types of artworks — wax digital art and wax caricature art. Many people wonder if it’s a miniature doll as they’re very expensive. But my artwork starts at a minimum price of Rs 600 and goes up to Rs 10,000. So, I would say, the price is reasonable for everyone and it just looks like a miniature wax statue,” says Naresh, adding that they are done in digital frames like iPad and MacBook.
There are four steps included in this design — layout, colour grading, finishing and background work. It takes five hours to finish one wax digital art model, whereas, wax caricature art model takes a day to finish. The works are given to clients in the form of soft copies sent to their emails so that they can get them printed as per their requirements.
“I’m blessed to have parents who support me in whatever decisions I make. When I completed my BTech, my mother gifted me an Apple tab as she understood my passion and made me pursue my dreams,” says Naresh, a civil engineer.
Brimming with confidence, a beaming Naresh shares, “My biggest achievement is that my digital works have been posted in RRR official page which boosted my confidence and many more people started approaching me. Recently, we have even started working on theme-based wedding cards and also some projects where people ask for customised designs.”
