Mahabubnagar: District Collector S Venkat Rao said Nasha Mukht Bharat counselling centres would be set up at Mandal level in the district to create awareness among people over drug abuse and its ill effects.
An advocate, an official from excise department, SHG, ICDS, MPHS and police will be participating in the counselling sessions to be organised at the mandal level centres.
During a meeting with officials, the District Collector said since last one year several rallies and awareness programmes involving folk artists were organised in the district as part of the Nasha Mukht Bharat campaign.
Continuing these programmes, on Sunday a master training programme would be conducted at mandal and district level on Monday. Tahsildar will be the nodal officer for the mandal-level meetings, he informed.
During the second week, awareness rallies will be organised across the district. In the third week, special programmes involving folk artists and others would be organised in junior colleges, degree colleges, medical college, Palamuru University and Nursing College, he said.
District SP R Venkateshwarlu said all measures were being taken to curb consumption of narcotics and illicit distilled liquor. Nearly 40 cases have been booked as part of crack down on sale of Gutkhas and pan masala, he said adding special teams would be constituted to control use of Ganja and other narcotics.
