Mancherial: The death toll in the Naspur road accident has risen to six, with another young woman succumbing to her injuries while undergoing treatment at a private hospital in Karimnagar on Saturday.
Police said Salluri Anusha (20), a resident of Gudipalli Venkatapur, died during treatment at around 10 am. She had been admitted to the hospital after her condition deteriorated on September 28. She was among seven people who sustained serious injuries when an auto-rickshaw rammed into a lorry in Naspur on Monday morning.
Earlier, Ramtenki Divya Vani (33), a native of Gudipelli Venkatapur village in Mandamarri mandal, died while undergoing treatment in Warangal on September 29.
On September 28, Thatipelli Soniya (20) of Dharmaraopet and Thogari Sumalatha (25) of Gudipet Venkatapur succumbed to their injuries while undergoing treatment in Mancherial.
On the day of the accident, two women, identified as Aggu Soundarya (38) and Chintakuntla Laxmi (38), both from Gidipet Venkatapur, were killed instantly.
The victims were saleswomen employed at shopping malls in Mancherial town and were on their way to work when the accident occurred.
Police suspect that negligence by the auto-rickshaw driver caused the accident. According to CCTV footage, the driver lost control while attempting a sudden U-turn after a two-wheeler entered the road at a junction. A lorry approaching from the opposite direction then collided with the auto-rickshaw, resulting in the fatal crash.
