National Voters’ Day celebrated in Khammam
District Collector RV Karnan said the Constitution has given equal voting rights to all citizens in India and every eligible voter should cast a vote in every election.

Khammam: Every citizen should exercise the right to vote granted to them by the Constitution of India, stated District Collector RV Karnan.
Speaking at a programme organised at the collectorate marking the 11th National Voters Day here on Monday, he said the Constitution has given equal voting rights to all citizens in India and every eligible voter should cast a vote in every election.
The National Voters Day was being celebrated since Jan 25, 2011 and it was aimed at creating awareness on the importance of casting votes in elections. It was the responsibility of all, especially the young generation, to exercise their franchise with utmost sincerity and without fail, he said. In a similar event at Kothagudem, the District Collector MV Reddy said this year’s National Voters Day was centered on the theme of ‘Making Our Voters Empowered, Vigilant, Safe and Informed’.
Explaining the importance of participating in the electoral process he said the young voters or first-time electorate should make use of their voting right. The officials handed over Elector Photo Identity Cards (EPIC) to newly enrolled voters and an oath was administered on the occasion.
