Hyderabad: Riding on a 30-point show from Balaji, Nizam Basketball Academy (NBA) defeated Supervek 87-72 to qualify for the Level 1 in the Annual League Basketball Championship, on Friday.
Meanwhile, Secunderabad YMCA, Victory Playground and Saints, with an unbeaten streak in the league, topped their respective groups while Eagles just about managed to down G9 to the second spot in Group C. Joining them in the Level 1 are Keystone Basketball Academy and Trinity Basketball Club who in a triple tie got ahead of HMT and Airborne in Group F.
Saints had to struggle all the way on to a 81-67 win against Young Men’s’ Guild Secunderabad leading 32-30 at halftime. The Level 1 will commence in November as teams from SCR, AOC Centre, Income Tax, Customs, State Bank of India and Central Tax and Telangana Police joining the fray.
Results: Nizam Basketball Academy 87 (Balaji 30, Kaushik 24, Majid 16) bt Supervek 72 (Peter 25, Satyadeep 20); Saints 81 (Clifton 20, Dujon 14) bt YMG Secunderabad 67 (Nihal Kumar 22, Nandit 15, Chris Viresh 12).
Qualified teams:
Group C: Eagles, G9; Group D: Secunderabad YMCA, Nizam Basketball Academy; Group E: Saints, Keystone Basketball Academy; Group F: Victory Playground, Trinity Basketball Club.
