Warangal: The celebration of the 73rd anniversary of the National Cadet Corps (NCC) was held at the Lal Bahadur College here on Saturday. Principal Dr Aruna DH Rao, who presided over the programme marking the NCC day, called upon the students to join the NCC and serve the nation.
“NCC, which is the youth wing of the Indian Armed Forces, is known as the second line of defence,” she said and added that the NCC training would help the youth to become responsible citizens, and also help to gain leadership qualities. “The NCC will also make the cadets as the people who are ready to protect the nation and serve the people during the emergency situations,” she said.
It is said that there were 14 lakh members in the NCC in India. According to the college management, the cadets and Associate NCC Officers, led by example in activities held in the city as a part of the nationwide campaigns by the Centre. Meanwhile, the cadets, who won prizes in the essay writing, drawing, drill, and elocution, have been handed over prizes by the Principal Dr Aruna DH Rao. Senior Under Officer Koteshwar, Jayanth Kumar, Akhila, and nearly 150 cadets attended the programme organised by the NCC 10th Telangana Battalion.
