Mulugu: In an overnight operation, an NDRF team rescued four persons who were stranded in an overflowing stream at Kalvapalli village of SS Tadwai mandal in the district.
According to officials, on Monday a cowherd, Dubari Ramaiah, who had gone to graze cattle, and P Saikiran, Raja Babu and P Ramulu, who had gone fishing, did not return home even by late evening as the flood flow increased in the stream.
Ramaiah’s brother informed the local tahsildar Suresh Babu, who reported the matter to District Collector Divakara TS. The Collector alerted the NDRF team about the incident at 11 pm and instructed them to launch a rescue operation to save the stranded persons.
The NDRF team led by Inspector Manmohan Yadav reached the spot, crossed the stream with the help of a rope and brought Ramaiah safely to the shore. The team then went a kilometre ahead and found the three others, Saikiran, Raja Babu and Ramulu. They were rescued and handed over to their family members early on Tuesday.
ASIs Sudhir and Surender, head constables Jagadish, Chandra and Ramesh, and constables Anand, Ramanamurthy and Vishal of the NDRF team took part in the operation, which was monitored by tahsildar Suresh Babu, MPO Sridhar, DEE Sadaiah, SI Srikanth Reddy and AE Raja.
