Nearly 2,600 MBA seats vacant in Telangana after final phase seat allotment

For the academic year 2024-25, as many as 28,345 seats were up for grabs in 266 MBA colleges. Of the total, 25,747 seats were allotted after the final phase of allotment, leaving 2,598 seats vacant.

Hyderabad: A staggering 2,598 MBA seats remained vacant after the Telangana Integrated Common Entrance Test (TG ICET) 2024 final phase seat allotment on Tuesday, reflecting the general lack of interest among students to pursue management programmes in State colleges.

For the academic year 2024-25, as many as 28,345 seats were up for grabs in 266 MBA colleges. Of the total, 25,747 seats were allotted after the final phase of allotment, leaving 2,598 seats vacant. Interestingly, seats in the university campus and constituent colleges too were left vacant. A total of 65 out of 1,639 seats in 21 colleges were unallocated. However, with 2,529 seats, the highest number of vacant seats was in 243 private management colleges, while two private universities saw 97.8 per cent out of 184 seats being allotted.


The MCA admissions in 89 colleges in the State were no different. As many as 871 seats with a majority of 855 seats in 74 private colleges remained unallocated after the final phase of admission. In addition, 16 seats in 15 university colleges were not allocated.

According to the information released by the Technical Education Department, 71,647 candidates qualified for the TG ICET 2024 and 39,647 got their certificates verified. However, 22,153 students exercised web options seeking seat allotment. Overall, 28,345 MBA seats were available in 266 management colleges across the State and 25,747 seats were released for students who participated in the web-based counselling. Similarly, out of 6,966 MCA seats in 89 colleges, 6,095 seats were allotted. A total of 99 colleges saw 100 per cent seat allotments this time.

Those who received seat allotment have to self-report online via the website https://tgicet.nic.in/ and pay the tuition fee on or before September 27, failing which the provisional seat allotment order stands automatically cancelled. Self-reported candidates should also report at the respective college on or before September 28.
