Neera cafe to be open in Siddipet soon: Harish Rao
Following requests from the Goud community in the district, the Minister assured them that he will speak to Excise Minister Srinivas Goud to get a Neera Cafe opened shortly
Siddipet: Finance Minister T Harish Rao said the government will open a Neera Cafe in Siddipet town soon.
Following requests from the Goud community in the district, the Minister assured them that he will speak to Excise Minister Srinivas Goud to get a Neera Cafe opened shortly on the lines of one that was opened in Hyderabad. He said that the cafe will help the Goud community market neera.
After distributing Girikia Palm saplings, a type of palm that gives more toddy than the normal palm trees, to the Goud community in Siddipet on Wednesday, the Minister assured sanction of additional funds to the Goud community for an AC function hall that is being constructed at a cost of Rs 2.5 crore. He distributed 2,530 new varieties of palm tree saplings to Gouda Community.
Underlining the importance of the growing of these saplings, Rao said that they will give toddy in just eight years after they were planted while the normal trees would be needed 10-12 long years. While the normal palm tree gives five to ten liters of toddy, the Minister said that the Girika Palm tree gives 40 to 100 liters of toddy for 8 months in a year.
The Minister informed the Community that Girika Palm tree would be more beneficial for them.
MP Medak Kotha Prabhakar Reddy, Collector Siddipet P Venkatrami Reddy, MLC Farooq Hussain and others were present.
FROs tour forest college in Siddipet
Sixty three forest range officers from Telangana and six other States visited the Forest College and Research Institute in Siddipet on Wednesday. Range officers from Jammu and Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh, Nagaland, Chhattisgarh, Madhya Pradesh and Tamil Nadu were part of 63 officers who came to the college to know more information.
