NEET-UG 2025 begins in Hyderabad amidst tight security

The State government had set up 190 examination centres in which a total of 72,507 candidates had registered to appear for the national-level MBBS entrance exam

Hyderabad: The National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET)-UG 2025, for admissions into MBBS courses, commenced on Sunday under elaborate security arrangements in Hyderabad.

The State government had set up 190 examination centres in which a total of 72,507 candidates had registered to appear for the national-level MBBS entrance exam.


Compared to other districts in State, Hyderabad had the maximum number of NEET examination centres at 62, where approximately 26,000 MBBS aspirants registered and scheduled to take the test, according to Health Secretary, Christina Z Chongthu.

While the actual exam was held between 2 pm and 5 pm, the registered candidates were allowed to enter the examination centres from 11 am onwards till 1.30 pm. Arrangements were made at the NEET examination centres to cross-check and capture the details of students.

To prevent impersonation and ensure integrity and security of the examination process, authorities used special arrangements in the form of biometric machines, deployed at the examination centres to capture the data of NEET students. The fingerprint/facial features of the candidates were captured through the biometric machines to match against the data provided during registration.

The State health department has appointed a senior health official as a Nodal Officer and a senior police officer to ensure the examinations are held smoothly.
