Hyderabad: India has a selection dilemma heading into the high-intensity Test series against Australia, scheduled to start with a pink ball Test on December 17.

India have plenty of options in the form of Prithvi Shaw, Mayank Agarwal, Shubhman Gill and KL Rahul. And if cleared, Rohit Sharma will join the list for third and fourth Tests. However, it is more or less settled that Mayank will be one opener but the doubts are still hovering on the second opening position.

Former Indian cricketer Ashish Nehra feels KL Rahul is in fine form and opening with him will benefit India. “There is a question surrounding India’s opening pair, as to who will open with Mayank Agarwal. I wouldn’t exactly call it a weakness, but it surely is a concern at this point. You can look at Shubhman Gill, or even Prithvi Shaw for that matter, but I believe it should be KL Rahul to open the batting for India. If he can score runs given the kind of form he is in, this weakness can transform into a strength for India. I would want him to play,” Nehra said during an interaction in Cricbuzz.
