New free sound pay feature on Jio Bharat Phone to help small scale merchants

JioSoundPay provides sound alerts for UPI payments received, without needing any sound box. Nearly five crore small and micro merchants can avail the free feature an save Rs 1,500 annually

Hyderabad: Telecom major Jio has launched a new feature on it JioBharat device by providing a free JioSoundPay which is intended to help the small scale merchants, who otherwise would be forced to spend Rs 125 per month to rent a sound box to get alerts everytime a UPI payment is made.

The new free feature on JioBharat phone provides an instant, multilingual audio confirmations for every UPI payment, enabling seamless and efficient business operations for even the smallest kirana stores, vegetable vendors, and roadside eateries, a press release from the company said on Friday.


JioBharat phone, that was launched over a year ago, is billed as the most affordable 4G phone available at Rs 699. Thereby, any merchant purchasing a new JioBharat phone can recover the entire price of the phone in just six months.

This initiative ensures that the benefits of technology reach the entrepreneurs, the press release added.
