Warangal Urban: Stating that the TRS government led by Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao was striving for the uplift of every section of society since the formation of Telangana State, MAUD Minister K T Rama Rao on Monday asserted that the government would soon issue new ration cards and Aasara pensions to all the eligible persons.

He urged the people of Warangal to support the TRS in the coming elections to Greater Warangal Municipal Corporation (GWMC) just as they did in every election in the last six years.

Addressing a public meeting at Fort Warangal here, Rama Rao listed out the various welfare schemes and development projects taken up by the TRS government.

Stating that the government was committed to the development of the historical Warangal city, the Minister said: “Chandrashekhar Rao has a special interest in the development of Warangal city. The State government has allocated Rs 300 crore in the budget for Warangal city. We have given house site pattas to the poor at Garib Nagar,” he said.

While there were 391 obstructions (structures) over nalas that led to the inundation of several colonies during the rainy season, 300 of them were demolished and removed successfully, Rama Rao said, adding that the remaining structures will also be removed by resolving the litigations.

The TRS government, he said, would make Warangal a ‘Future City’ and the best Tier-II city in the State. “The Metro Neo rail project will be taken up in the city soon,” Rama Rao said.

Stating the development works worth Rs 2,500 crore were inaugurated or the foundation stone was laid on Monday alone, he said the government spent Rs 1,580 crore to provide drinking water supply every day to each house under the GWMC limits.

“Due to the corona crisis, the State revenues also plummeted, but the government did not stop a single scheme,” he reminded.

Listing out the measures being taken for the strengthening of the government hospitals besides protecting the health of the pregnant women, he said that mother mortality rate (MMR) and Child Mortality Rate (CMR) had come down drastically in the State. “The deliveries at the government medical institutions have increased to 50 percent from 30 percent due to KCR kits and financial assistance to the mothers,” he added.

Alleging that the Modi government did nothing for the development of Telangana State as well as the nation, Rao came down heavily on Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah for their indifferent attitude. “Telangana was promised a coach factory at Kazipet, but the Modi government has not set up it. It has sanctioned only a wagon overhauling unit,” he said.

The Minister blamed the Modi government for the steep hike in prices of petrol, diesel and LPG cylinder. “Fertilizer prices are also on the rise,” he said, and added that the Centre had given only Rs 1.40 lakh crore, while the State had paid Rs 2.73 lakh crore to the Centre in the last six years. He also promised that the GWMC would purchase 30 acres of the land by offering Rs 7 crore compensation to the landowners at Fort Warangal to make it a beautiful ground for the benefit of the morning walkers and locals.

Ministers Errabelli Dayakar Rao, Satyavathi Rathod, Govt Chief Whip Dasyam Vinay Bhaskar, local MLA N Narender, and others attended the meeting.

Daily water supply scheme launched

Fulfilling the State government’s promise to ensure daily water supply to all houses under the GWMC limits from ‘Ugadi’, Minister KT Rama Rao formally launched the project by unveiling a plaque at Rampur in Warangal city on Monday.

The Minister, who arrived here around 9.10 am, was welcomed by Ministers Errabelli Dayakar Rao and Satyavathi Rathod, Government Chief Whip Dasyam Vinay Bhaskar, and other TRS leaders. He also inaugurated an eight-lakh-litre capacity Overhead Service Reservoir (OHSR) at Rampur. This comprehensive water project was taken up at Rs 1,589.37 crore and designed to meet the drinking water demand of the city residents till 2048.

Stones laid for 800 2BHKs, Haj House

MA&UD Minister KT Rama Rao on Monday laid the foundation stone for 800 2BHK houses under the GWMC limits.

While 600 houses will be constructed for BPL families at Dupakunta at Rs 31.80 crore, the rest will be for journalists of the Warangal East constituency at Rs 10.60 crore. Stones were also laid for a Haj House at an estimated cost of Rs 2.35 crore at Mandi Bazar and Shaadhi Khana at LB Nagar in Warangal.
