Wanaparthy: Agriculture Minister S Niranjan Reddy said a new RTPCR test centre has been set up at Gandhinagar school at a cost of Rs.1.16 crore and appealed to the people to make best use of the facility.
In addition to this, 150 oxygen beds and two ventilators have also been made available. One more ventilator will be set up shortly in association with TRS leader Mamidimada Ranga Reddy’s son, the Minister said.
During the second wave, 53,046 persons had undergone Covid-19 tests in Wanaparthy and of these, 6,384 tested positive. Except for 35 persons, rest are all doing good and 52 persons are undergoing treatment, he.said.
“Nearly 98 per cent of the people are recovering from Covid and only two per cent are facing severity. People should not panic,” Niranjan Reddy said, while reviewing Covid treatment and arrangements in the district on Tuesday.
The Minister instructed the officials to make arrangements for an anaesthetist immediately, besides recruiting required doctors and other staff on a temporary basis for the next two months. Staff should be deployed in place of those who abstain from duty, he directed the officials.
He appealed to all the elected public representatives and officials to create awareness among all those who are aged above 45 years to get vaccinated.
Later, the Minister distributed the State government’s Ramzan kits to Muslim community members on the masjid premises in the district.
