Hyderabad: A newborn baby girl was found abandoned on Platform No.2 at Secunderabad Railway Station on Monday.
The infant, about 20 days old, is suspected to have been abandoned by her parents.
Sources said the child was found around 5 pm, after passengers heard her crying. Volunteers of Divya Disha, a child rights organization, alerted the Government Railway Police.
The police, after medical examination, shifted the infant to Shishu Vihar in Ameerpet.
The police have booked a case and taken up investigation. Officials said footage from surveillance cameras in the surroundings when examined found an unidentified couple abandoning the child. Efforts are on to identify and trace them.
Officials are also verifying birth records at hospitals and nursing homes nearby to identify her parents.
