Newcastle University explores offshore campus in Telangana

A delegation from Newcastle University met TGCHE Chairman V Balakista Reddy to explore collaboration in AI, healthcare, and innovation. The university is also evaluating Indian cities for establishing an offshore campus, citing Telangana’s strong industrial and IT ecosystem.

Hyderabad: A team from Newcastle University, UK, here on Wednesday, met TGCHE Chairman Prof V Balakista Reddy to explore possible collaboration in AI and data science, innovation and entrepreneurship, sustainable and resilient cities, allied healthcare programs, agro business, and management programmes.

The Newcastle team – Prof Stewart Robinson, Dean, Operational Research, Dr Aditya Narain Sharma, Global Special Advisor (India), Barry Hodgson, Deputy Director, National Innovation Centre for Data – informed the chairman that they have two off campus based in Singapore and Malaysia, and are evaluating various Indian cities for setting up their off campus ahead.


Prof Reddy highlighted the advantages of Telangana by briefing them about the unique position as a youngest state and its strides in the domain of Defence manufacturing industries, Pharma industries and presence of IT industries with global reach.
