Newly married couple mowed down by lorry in Mancherial
Mancherial sub-inspector Maruthi said the deceased were identified as Rudra Swaraj (30) and his wife Krishnaveni (25), residents of Gadderagadi area in Kyathanpalli village of Mandamarri mandal.
Mancherial: In a tragic incident, a newly married couple was killed when a truck rammed into their motorcycle here on Monday.
Mancherial sub-inspector M Maruthi said the deceased were identified as Rudra Swaraj (30), a private employee and his wife Krishnaveni (23), homemaker, residents of Gadderagadi area in Kyathanpalli village of Mandamarri mandal.
Swaraj and Krishnaveni sustained fatal head injuries when they both came under the wheels of the lorry, resulting in instantaneous death. They got married just six months ago. The couple was proceeding to Mancherial town from Gaddergadi when the accident took place.
Police said the truck rammed the two-wheeler when Swaraj tried to overtake a tractor. Both vehicles were moving in the same direction.
Based on a complaint lodged by Rajaiah, father of Swaraj, a case was registered 304 (A) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) against the driver of the truck. Investigations were taken up. The driver is absconding and the lorry was shifted to Mancherial police station. Post-mortem of the bodies was performed at Mancherial district-headquarters hospital.
