Jangaon: Disha Foundation-USA, an NGO which has been working towards strengthening government schools and helping orphaned and underprivileged children, will provide more facilities at Zilla Parishad High School (ZPHS), Thatikonda in Station Ghanpur mandal in the district.
Speaking to Telangana Today, State Resource Person, math teacher, and textbook author Kandala Ramaiah, said the founder of Disha Foundation-USA, Susmitha Jakkireddy, had promised to establish a multi-purpose digital learning lab, green boards, safe drinking water and furniture soon.
“The Foundation has already spent Rs 1.50 lakh on coloring the walls with beautiful pictures and also distributed Rs 40,000 worth notebooks to the students last year,” Ramaiah said, adding that the Foundation had adopted the school to make it a smart model school.
On Wednesday, Susmitha visited the school and inspected the beautification works completed recently and also discussed the needs of the school with the Headmaster (HM) Kouda Rajender. “Under the auspices of Disha Foundation, we distributed 50,000 notebooks worth Rs 10 lakh to 16,000 children in 50 schools in the two Telugu States last year, he said.
The organisation also promised to offer scholarships to the poor students at the school where 205 students were studying from the 6th class to 10th class in both the Telugu and English Mediums. The parents and villagers expressed their happiness over Disha Foundation-USA’s decision to adopt the school for its development.
