NIA conducts searches in Telangana, AP

Hyderabad: The National Investigation Agency (NIA) on Thursday conducted searches at the residences of alleged CPI (Maoist) sympathisers and its frontal organisations’ leaders in Telangana and Andhra Pradesh. At Subashnagar in Alwal, the NIA team searched the residence of Amarula Bandhu Mitrula Sangham assistant secretary Bhavani and secretary Padma Kumari.

The residences of writer N Ravi and B Anuradha were also searched in the city. In Andhra Pradesh, another NIA team conducted searches at the residence of senior Virasam leader G Kalyan Rao at Alakurapadu in Prakasam district. One more NIA team raided the house of Pragathi Sheela Karmika Sangham leader Annapurna.


Responding to the NIA searches, Virasam members A Krishna, Rivera and Paani said the investigators were infringing the rights of people and everyone should condemn it. The NIA teams ransacked the articles in the name of searches and did not explain the reasons behind their move.
