Hyderabad: The Hyderabad Cybercrime police arrested a Nigerian who allegedly cheated people on pretext of sending gift parcels. The police seized seven mobile phones, two bank accounts pass books and a debit card from him.

The man identified as Onyeka Solomon Wisdom alias Simon, (24) a native of Asaba in Nigeria stays in Chanakyapuri in New Delhi.


In May last year, the Solomon introduced himself as a doctor from United Kingdom to a woman from East Marredpally in the city. “After conversation with the victim over WhatsApp for a few weeks, Solomon said he is sending a gift parcel to her. Later, his associates claiming to be customs officials informed that the parcel contained foreign currency and it could land her in trouble and conned the victim into sending Rs. 38.57 lakh towards various charges like customs clearance, laundering charges, insurance etc for getting the parcel,” Joint Commissioner of Police, Detective Department, Avinash Mohanty.

The police had registered a case and tracked the suspect down to Delhi. He was arrested by a team of the Hyderabad Cybercrime police and brought to the city.
