Karimnagar: Giving a taste of urban night life to citizens of Karimnagar city, the Municipal Corporation authorities have decided to establish night bazaars in the city.
Though Karimnagar town is being developed on all fronts as part of the Smart City programme, there was hardly any night life. If people come out at night time for joy and fun during the weekends or holidays, they would not find hotels, restaurants, and other shops since all business establishments are closed by 9 pm.
For the convenience of those people, corporation authorities have decided to open night bazaars on the lines of big cities such as Delhi, Hyderabad, Visakhapatnam, and Jaipur. For the purpose, MCK (Municipal Corporation of Karimnagar) authorities have also identified three places such as the stretch between Collectorate office to Mamatha Theater, opposite bus bay near multipurpose school park and SRR Government Degree-PG College road.
The night bazaars would be allowed to function from 9 pm to 12 in the midnight. The eateries would be given permission to run business only on four-wheeler vehicles or food trucks and push carts in the night time. Everything would be normal during the day time as these vehicles will have to vacate spaces for vehicular traffic in the morning.
About 15 feet of space would be allocated to each shop. Besides the solar lighting system, sign boards of night bazaars would also be displayed. Food trucks, tiffin centres, snacks points, ice cream trucks and other eateries would be given permission to operate at night bazaars.
Speaking to Telangana Today, a private employee, L Shankar said nowadays, people were giving priority to go out along with family members during the weekends and holidays. Though there were few recreation centres such as Lower Manair Dam, Ujwala Park and Deer Park in the town, visitors would not be allowed into them at night.
So, there are not many options on the streets to spend the quality time at night. So, the night bazaars would provide an opportunity for the people to enjoy along with family members during the nights.
Karimnagar Mayor Y Sunil Rao informed that they had planned to start night bazaars in last week of October or first week of November but postponed it due to election code. A decision in this regard would be taken soon after the election code for MLC elections concludes on December 16.
Night bazaars would be started in more areas depending on the success of the first three bazaars.
