Hyderabad: The city woke up covered in a blanket of mist on Saturday morning, as night temperature in various localities dropped to single digit. Officials said the city could witness a cold-wave like situation for the next two nights as well.
An average minimum temperature of 13 degrees Celsius was recorded in the city in the early hours of Saturday, which is around five degrees less than normal. Serilingampally witnessed the lowest minimum temperature of 8.7 degrees Celsius.
The India Meteorological Department, Hyderabad has issued a yellow alert for the city for the next three days, and the officials inform that the night temperature is likely to range from 11 degrees Celsius to 15 degrees Celsius.
According to the data recorded at various Automatic Weather Stations (AWS) by Telangana State Development Planning Society (TSDPS), the weather in the city is likely to remain dry, and the night temperature might fall by two to three degrees for the next two days. However, the temperature is likely to soar gradually in most parts of the city from Monday. The maximum temperature in the city during the period is expected to range from 30 degrees Celsius to 32 degrees Celsius.
The IMD officials have issued an orange alert for several northern parts of Telangana, including Kumuram Bheem Asifabad, Mancherial, Nirmal, Peddapalli, Karimnagar and Jayashankar Bhupalpally. The night temperature in these places is likely to drop by two to four degrees below normal. On Saturday, Adilabad recorded the lowest minimum temperature of six degrees Celsius.
