NIMS director urges public not to believe kidney racket rumours
NIMS Director Prof Nagari Bheerappa appealed to the public not to believe rumours about an alleged kidney racket scam at the hospital. An outsourcing employee accused of taking money from a patient has been terminated, while Punjagutta police continue their investigation.

Hyderabad: Director of Nizam’s Institute of Medical Sciences (NIMS), Prof Nagari Bheerappa, on Saturday, appealed to the general public not to believe false rumors circulating on social media regarding a kidney racket scam in the hospital.
Dr Bheerappa, in a press release on Saturday, said that people should remain alert to individuals trying to tarnish the reputation of a hospital that serves lakhs of patients. He said a complaint was received from a patient alleging that a NIMS outsourcing employee had taken money after promising to arrange a kidney operation.
The NIMS Director said the Punjagutta police are currently investigating the matter.
Following a preliminary inquiry, the accused employee has been terminated from service. If anyone else is found to be involved in this matter, strict action will be taken against them as well, he said.
Dr Bheerappa said that some individuals were blowing this issue out of proportion and attempting to damage the image of NIMS. He noted that this aspect has also been brought to the attention of the police.
